JOINT MANIPULATION
Ever feel like your joints are tight or locked up? Joint manipulation or HVT’s (high velocity thrusts) might be the technique which brings you instant relief. Your therapist will assess the affected joint and then apply a range of levers (taking the joint into a combination of movements). Once they feel a “bind point”, a short fast impulse is delivered through the joint line to help temporarily increase the joints range of motion and muscular flexibility.
HOW IT HELPS
- Joint manipulation has been used for thousands of years to help improve flexibility through your range of motion
- Have you ever clicked your fingers? That noise is thought to be a dissipation of intracellular gas, no bone crunching or cracking here.
- A growing body of evidence supports the short term benefits of manipulation as being comparative to using TENS machines, NSAIDs and opioids
- Can help decrease muscular tension and increase tissue flexibility.
KEY INFO
- Joint manipulation is considered to be considered a safe procedure with very minor side effects.
- We never manipulate joints without first taking a thorough case history and assessment.
- Treatments start with soft tissue & gentler mobilisation techniques. If we feel it is beneficial, we might suggest a HVT technique
- We are insured and trained to perform these techniques with the highest level of precision.
